In a recent interview, a dedicated case manager from the Rapid Rehousing Department recounted a narrative that highlights the transformative power of support and community.

Congressman Joe Morelle was joined by the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County and the Children’s Agenda to announce legislation he supports to ensure quality, affordable childcare is accessible for all working families.

YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County has received $4.1 million in funding from the Homeless Housing Assistance Program to renovate a brand new emergency shelter for the community, named Persimmon Place.

Rochester has very few shelters that can accommodate families in Monroe County as licensing requirements prohibit cohabitating singles with families. Funding from KeyBank will help YWCA as it renovates a facility on Ardmore Street in Rochester that will house a licensed homeless shelter allowing homeless women and their families to stay together while seeking a more permanent housing solution.
