Rochester, N.Y., November 26, 2024 Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County received a generous and timely gift card donation from Kinecta Federal Credit Union. This donation will assist 486 households in the YWCA’s housing program, providing essential items like food to help them feel more secure and cared for during the holiday season.

“As a credit union, we take our commitment to our communities and our partners, like YWCA, to heart. We believe that our success as a credit union is intertwined with the success of our community. In 2023 alone, our teams volunteered more than 7,000 hours and raised more than $1.2M to support local community-based programs. It’s what we call banking done different,” remarked Andrew Myers, Community Program Manager at Kinecta.

The gift cards will be distributed across YWCA’s critical housing programs, including S.W.I.F.T Community Housing, SteppingStone Supportive Living Treatment, and Emergency and Affordable Housing. These programs serve women, children, and individuals experiencing homelessness, providing stability and essential services that help them rebuild their lives.

Leanne Andre, Housing Director at YWCA, emphasized the significance of the donation’s timing: “During the holidays, the need for support is especially urgent. These gift cards not only provide meals but also deliver hope and dignity to families working hard to overcome challenges. We are deeply grateful for Kinecta’s partnership and generosity.”

Kinecta's ongoing support for YWCA is a powerful example of how organizations can work together to drive meaningful social change. By aligning with YWCA's mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, Kinecta demonstrates a deep commitment to these critical values. This partnership ensures that resources and efforts are pooled to maximize impact, creating safer, more inclusive communities. Their combined efforts not only address immediate needs but also work towards building a more just and equitable future in our community.
